About MeHello! I am happy to be teaching English for the thirteenth year at Lane Tech. I grew up in central Ohio but have been living in Chicago since 2000 (with the exception of one year). I tell my students that I am one of those incredibly abnormal people who decides "what she wants to be" at age six and actually gets a job in that same profession and loves it. Although what I have wanted to teach has changed over the years, I have always wanted to be a teacher, and there is no other job I would rather have!
While living abroad for a year, I was bit by the travel bug. Since then, I take every opportunity I can to travel and have now been to dozens of cities in several countries. My most recent adventure: Madrid, Spain My next adventure: ??? |
Education |
I moved to Chicago to attend DePaul University (or, rather, I attended DePaul in order to move to Chicago), where I received my Bachelor's in Secondary Education English. After a year of working at the DePaul library and subbing at Whitney Young after graduation, I took off across the pond to get my M.A. in English Literature at King's College London. Living in London itself was an incredibly enriching and educational experience, not to mention a ton of fun! While pursuing my M.A., I focused my studies on 19th-century British Literature, which continues to be one of my favorite areas of literature to teach.

Involvement |
In addition to teaching advanced classes at Lane, I am also involved in other activities around the school. I am the coach for the Frosh/Soph Gold Boys' Soccer Team. I assistant direct and assistant choreograph the winter musicals, and in the spring I serve as one of the supervising directors for the annual Play Fest. Also, I am the Lead Teacher for English 3.
